Where can I get ideas and tips for making stylish fashionable bead bracelets?

Monday, November 24th, 2008

I love wearing beaded bracelets!! I'm tired of buying them in the stores and I think it would be a fun hobby to make and design them myself to wear and to give as gifts. Who knows, maybe I will sell them someday too.

Anyway, does anybody else out there make their own bracelets? Do you know of and good websites, books, magazines where I can get some ideas? Where can I get a lot of cheap beads that are very trendy and stylish?

They also offer kits, as well as gifting you when you buy, so you can make the entire bracelet from what is in the kit. Saves beginners lots of 'what do I buy?' questions. They also list what tools are necessary for each project.

How do I add beads when braiding friendship bracelets out of floss?

Monday, November 24th, 2008

My little niece picked a selection of them our of her bulk of beads she wants me to make a bracelet out.

There's two options. If you want to knot them in as you go, you should string them on the floss before you start knotting and push them to the end(out of the way) until you move it up to knot into your pattern. The second option is to sew them in later with a separate piece of matching floss. The advantage to the second method is that you have better control over the placement of the beads and if you get tired of them, you can cut the string and remove them and still have the bracelet.

What jewelry is used in a vertical labret piercing?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I know you need a curved barbell, but the only kind I see is for eyebrows. Is this the same jewelry? Can I buy an eyebrow ring for a replacement vertical labret barbell?

Its the same, yes. Unless your lip is uncommonly thick, many types of standard size eyebrow barbells will fit perfectly! Typically you should also stay with the same gauge you were pierced with, most commonly a 16 gauge. You may also have to search for different lengths.

What is the easiest way to clean costume jewellery?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I'm looking for some tips on how to clean my costume jewellery. I have found many gold and silver jewellery cleaners on the internet, but the stuff I want to clean is fake so don't know if they would work. I know it's only cheap stuff but I don't want to have to throw it away just because it's a bit old and dull looking. Any help greatly appreciated.

soak in a bowl of white vinegar mixed with baking soda. then take a tooth brush and scrub jewelery, rinse in cold water. i use that all the time for all my jewelery and it works really well and makes it really shiny! hope that helps!

does the MLB allow the players to wear diamond earrings or any kinda earrings that shine?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Nope. You should look into pitcher Arthur Rhodes if you want some clarification but I’ve added the incident that established no “distracting jewelry” on the mound.
In 2001, Arthur Rhodes was pitching against the Cleveland Indians when Indians shortstop Omar Vizquel said that Rhodes’ glowing diamond earrings were distracting him from seeing the ball. This incited an argument between both teams that led to Rhodes’ ejection from the game. Since then, players have not been allowed to wear distracting jewelry on the field.

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I would really love to learn how to make polymer clay beads, specifically character beads. There are so many tallented artists on ebay, and I'd love to become one of them, but haven't a clue how to start other than buying all sorts polymer clay tools and clay. I worked with it a little, but mostly got stuck in the finishing of the beads. Any suggestions on how I can become an expert bead maker from start to finish? Thanks for your help! :)
