How can I protect my jewelry line without the costs of patenting it?

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

I designed my own line of jewelry, and I don't want someone to steal my idea, but I don't have the money for a patent. Is there anything else I can do to protect my design?

the only way to protect your idea is to copyright it or patent it both cost money.. i would suggest either getting someone to invest in it or keep in under wraps until you can afford it .. otherwise anyone who sees the design can use it as theyr own

What do you think of a person with too many bracelets?

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Over ten bracelets, and around the age of 13. Most of them are hand-made. They’re made of beads, paperclips, buttons– anything you can find around the house.

I don’t think you should think anything of it. It is probably just a phase that she is going through. I wouldn’t worry about, many kids are making jewelry out of things that you can find around the house. At least this one is making bracelets and not using them as earrings as many are doing. And I think that it shows that it is a creative child trying to express emotions in his/her own way.

What jewellery should I wear with my wedding dress?

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

It's quite a plain dress. It's the shape that makes it distinctive but it has no sequins/crystals or pearls on it. Should I go for big sparkly jewellery BECAUSE the dress is plain or should I go for understated jewellery? Is there some sort of rule on this? What do you think?

Thanks

Depends on you- are you chic or do you want to do the miss America look?

I always say- go "real" even if it's costume keep it at a modest size so that it looks like a real diamond instead a giant hunk of glass.

how do i re-magnetize magnetic rings and bracelets?

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Put the rings and bracelets next to a permanent magnet, or I guess an electromagnet would also re-magnetize them. Moving the magnet back and forth across the rings and bracelets might help.

If they don't stay magnetized then put them next to the magnet and smack the rings and bracelets with something hard. The vibrations help the iron atoms line up which magnetizes the metal. Don't smack a magnet or the vibrations will help to randomize the atoms and weaken the magnet.

My beaded purse is dirty, how do I clean the beads?

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I have a beaded purse and the beads are dirty on the edges and bottom of the purse. How do I clean the beads? I don't know if it's just dirty from dust or if it's something else. I had it hanging in the closet for years.
Thanks everyone.

Try using a soft headed toothbrush first dry then if that dosen't work try a tiny bit of water on it.Then hang to dry, remember do it gently as you don't want to rub off the beads or loosen any.

I use toothpaste (we use Crest at home) and a soft toothbrush, rince throughly. Sparkling clean silver…works on gold too.

Anyone with a sternum microdermal anchor piercing, can you still wear necklaces?

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

I'm very interested in getting a microdermal on my upper chest, centered close to my collar bones. I'm concerned it will look awkward with necklaces. Do I have to choose between 1 or the other? Anyone with experience with this or even better pictures? I've seen tons of pictures of the piercing itself, but not with necklaces.

That's entirely personal preference. There is really nothing wrong with wearing a necklace as far as over-accessorizing being a concern. But a smaller chain could get caught on them, and you definitely don't want to rip one of those out!
