What shoes and jewelry go good with an orange dress?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I just bought a formal orange dress, it is orange only and plain no other colors, I was wondering what shoes and jewelry would go great with it. black shoes? white? I heard gold from someone but I'm not sure.

If you want to look dramatic, black accessories will do the trick. Gold will look a lot softer. You can also choose silver/grey to make the whole look a bit cooler. If your hair is brown, you could also go for a brown color, matching with your hair.
Cheers

How do you disinfect white gold plated earrings?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I got this pair of swarovski white gold plated earrings a while ago and i really like them. I've also never worn them. Even after telling my sister that she can't wear them to her prom because she's been nothing but rude to me, just as she was about to get into the limo, I saw them in her ears and ofcourse by then it was too late. I'd like to disinfect them without damaging the gold. How can I do that?

Is there any creative ways to make bracelets about of plastic beads?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Simple patterns and names on your bracelet won't suffice for my students, they're from kindergarten all they way to sixth grade and I want them to have a bit more creative bracelets/necklaces. [: So any ideas will be greatly appreciated. And please, it has to be from plastic beads. Thank you!

You don't say what size beads, so I'll assume you're using seed beads.

Bead looms are a great way to do intricate patterns.

What color shoes and jewelry with a red dress for an afternoon wedding?

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

The dress has a square neck and is sleeveless. It has green and white embroidery up from the hemline. What do I pair it with in the shoe and jewelry dept.

White shoes like dressy sandals would probably look nice with red and I would choose jewelry that has silver and/or white in it, for a necklace you would probably want a longer chain with a pendant on it, possibly a bigger pendant.

How likely is a jewellery store to sell old, recycled jewellery?

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

I don't mean a pawn shop, but a real jewellery store.
Is it likely for jewellery stores to claim their jewellery is new, but really they are recycled?

Maybe they melt things down and change it, like ring to pendant…but is it likely for gemstones to have been worn by other people?

Depends on the store. Chain stores are not likely to do so, what they do is purchase old jewelry and melt it 90% of the time, using that material as credit to their suppliers for new product.

Some independents may re-finish old jewelry are utilize old setting and stones, but MUST disclose that it is an "Estate" piece by trade standards.

Many larger precious gemstones ( ie: Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, etc ) are sometimes recycled into new settings but that is because the price is much better or the material may not exist anymore of that caliber.

How bad does it hurt to get your nose pierced?

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

I wanna get my nose pierced in the morning and I am a little scared. I dont really have any piercings all i have is the first to holes in my ears that I did by myself with regular earrings. Will it hurt worse than that. I know it probaly will but I am curious how much worse?

Nose piercings are not bad at all. Because it will be your first body piercing, you might think it's worse than it really is. All that happens is a quick, short pain (duh, it's a needle going through your nose) and your eye on that side waters for a few seconds. The pain level is the very similar to the ears, but through a thicker, more firm area so just a little more tolerance is necessary.

The person who said it too 8 months to heal clearly did not take care of the piercing. It heals very quickly. I have 11 piercings- this one healed the fastest!! Like any piercing, research it first, especially the aftercare. Also, GO TO A PROFESSIONAL to make sure the piercing is not at an angle so the jewelry can sit properly. Plus, home piercings can be unsanitary.

It's quick, easy, and very cute once it's done. Worth it 100%

What should a jewelry photographer charge?

Friday, June 12th, 2009

I have been asked to photograph pieces of jewelry but have no idea what to charge. I am a well established photographer, but have never photographed jewelry so I have no idea what to charge. Thank you!

what are your costs?
what is your time worth?
how will the pics be used?
is it simply a work for hire or some other arrangement?
what do you charge for photos of any other product?
what is the going rate for similar work in your market?

I know… more questions and no answers. but answer them and you will know what to charge.

What is the average pay rate for a jewelry polisher?

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

I was debating on whether or not to take this job at the jewelry store right down the road from me but I can't find any information about the average pay rate for an entry-level jeweler position as a jewelry polisher. The store I was looking at is a corporate jewelry store, if that means anything. Can anyone help?

Just minimum wage to $10 in NYC, which is where I'm from.
