How to make own jewellery and then sell it on website?

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I was thinking about setting up an online jewellery business. But how would I make the jewellery and where can I get the chains, beads, etc etc?

I wouldn’t advise trying to do this unless you’re already very accomplished at making jewelry. There are a lot of people who are trying to sell jewelry online, some on eBay, some on Etsy, and others have their own dedicated websites. Very few of them, even the most talented, are making much money. Remember, too, that you’re going to be competing with the people in third world countries who will work all day for the equivalent of one US dollar. This goes for any labor, skilled or unskilled. For instance, I’m quite a good crocheter and knitter, but I will never be able to compete against the people in the third world countries who will knit and crochet for almost nothing.

As for the components, well, just do a search on "jewelry findings" and you will find a gazillion sites offering the components.

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I use a Nikon D300 with a 50mm 1.4f lens and a white cube. I do not have any special lights at home for this purpose. Could anyone please recommend some table top lights and / or the appropriate bulbs for shooting pictures of jewellery at home. Hoping to turn this into a part time business

How do I prevent my earrings from making my holes long?

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

I love dangly earrings which happen to be heavy making my holes look long after I remove them. They’re suppose to look like tiny holes, not vertical lines, right? How long until they become tiny holes if I wear lighter earrings?

theres not to much of a way , try geting light weght dangly ones

wont make your holes bigger plus if your gunna wear old ones
youve already got try not to wear them for to long in the day and if you wear them only wear the type that make your whole big 1 – 4 times

What kind of jewelry could you give the (step) children during the wedding?

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

My finance has three middle school age daughters who will also be participating in the wedding by being my bridesmaids and during a sand ceremony. I know it used to be the thing to give jewelry during the ceremony, but I don’t know what to give them. I thought about their first initials, but that doesn’t seem perfect.

I’ve never heard of giving a gift during the ceremony but…

Pearls are always timeless and classic or a simple tiffany style necklace with their initial would be nice.

Is selling bracelets and handmade jewelry on the boardwalk illegal in New Jersey? How do you know?

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ll need permission. One firm charges $75 PER LOCATION just to tell you WHICH licenses and permissions you will need to apply for and fill out. They don’t do the paperwork, they charge this much just for the information on which forms you have to fill out.

A peddler’s license is $430 per year in one city, and requires
" 1. Three passport size [2x2] photographs of the applicant.
2. Copy of valid driver’s license, or other proof of identification.
3. Copy of applicant’s social security card.
4. Fingerprints
5. State Sales Tax Certificate of Authority
6. Three photographs of the vending unit – side, front and rear view.
7. A Satisfactory Health Certificate (If you are selling food products) "

I know this because I can use an internet search engine.

How do you make string friendship bracelets?

Friday, August 14th, 2009

I’ve been in love with friendship bracelets, but I dont know how to make them…Does anybody have simpler directions that I can actually follow?

Take 4 colors of string and tie them together at the top. Tape the knot to something like a table. Split the 4 into two piles (you will have two on one side and two on the other.) Hold each side together and knot the two. Keep knotting until you reach the bottom and then tie off.

What jewellery can I wear with a purple v neck dress?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Wondering what type of jewellery I could wear for my grad. The dress is purple dress and has black and silver small floral print. It has a V neck and sort of halter tie at the back and mid length. I have long hair and plan to keep my hair down. I have black closed toe shoes and a clutch.

I think silver would look great! Gold would look really tacky. Silver is elegant and can be dressed up or casual. A set of silver bangles would look great and maybe a black bracelet too. A necklace that is silver with maybe something black on it. That would look FAB! Hope you have fun with it!

How long can I leave my earrings out after 4 weeks of getting them pierced?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I just got my ears pierced but in four weeks I have a game and your required not to wear any jewelry. Could I take my earrings out for a couple of hours or will the hole close up. I can’t use tape to cover them up.

i had this same problem….

if it is only for a couple of hours then it should be ok.
just to be safe you should take out the earrings minutes before the game starts…..wait until you are at the field/court/arena (whatever it is) until you take them out….
then put them back in as soon as the game is finished
good luck! (:

How do I send a bracelet with a letter?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I live in America and want to send a letter to England, as well as a bracelet with it. The bracelet isn’t too fragile or anything. Do I just put in the envelope with the letter? Can I just take it to the post office and have them take care of it or do I have to do it myself? This is my first time sending anything, so I don’t know how this stuff works.

Were it me, I’d either wrap the bracelet up in a little piece of bubble wrap and tuck it in there, or just stick the letter and bracelet in a small padded envelope that has the bubble lining already (and maybe wrap the bracelet in a tissue for a touch of extra padding).
