Friday, October 30th, 2009

I am trying to make those chunky colorful rhinestone cowgirl necklaces. Does anyone know where I can find the pendants or the different colored large stone beads? I have been searching the internet all night!

What type of jewelry can you put in a labret piercing?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I’m thinking about getting my labret pierced ( NOT a vertical labret), but I’m not sure what kind of jewelry you can put in it. Can you put a ring in it? Just let me know what kind of jewelry you can put in it. Oh, and is there a difference between a labret and a center lip ring?

labrets are traditionally lower than lip piercings. my labret is centered between the bottom of my lip and the top of my chin. because of the lower nature of the piercing it’s less common to see rings worn in them. not to say you can’t do it. but more often than not you’ll see a labret stud being worn. they also used to make funky looking barbells with a straight piece that goes through the piercing and then the top comes up and over your lip looking like a normal circular barbell, though I can’t find any still available. there’s also a piece called (if I remember correctly) a fishtail. this is simply a ball on a long rod that is curved to go in your mouth and settle between your gums and lip. lastly the do make labret plugs though, of course, you have to have a sizable piercing to make that work.

however, I don’t advise getting a labret piercing. I’ve had trouble with mine wearing away at my gums, and gums don’t grow back.

How practical is silver jewellery in the long term?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I have seen some stunning silver jewellery recently, really really beautiful. In particular a really lovely wedding band. My concern is, does it not scratch easily, tarnish and look dull after a little while?

After a few years of marriage and wearing it day in day out, would it look terrible?

Its not a cost thing, i just like silver and would like this particular
wedding band :)

I know nothing about silver, or silver care, so any advice would be amazing :)

silver jewellery is very practical for regular use and long term.It always looks clean and shiny and does not lose much value over time.as for cleaning if it starts to look dull get some vinegar and washing up liquid and it will shine like new rinse in cold water .but it could be years before it will need that good luck.

What is with chunky necklaces worn by angels and yankees pitchers?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I noticed during playoffs games that the pitchers are wearing colorful chunky necklaces that look like they might be rope or chain. Does anyone know their significance? Why would they wear that?

they’re titanium necklaces made by a japanese company called phiten that supposedly relieve muscle fatigue

does all chakra jewelry need to be made of crystal or can I just use the colors?

crystals and other semi precious stones have power when charged. A fake stone, lets say made out of plastic will not have any impact.
So choose a semi precious stone of color. Quartz crystal, rose crystal for love, onyx (black) for grounding etc.

how do i find out about how to burn metal jewellery from a digital or regular photo?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

i was at a craft show on the weekend and had my grand-daughters picture taken digitally at a booth and they burnt it into a piece of jewellery while i waited. I want to find out how to go about setting up a similar business but i dont know what to do. Can anybody help??

Do you have a lot of knowledge about Jewelry, metal and digital photos? Do you have a lot of money and time to invest in your product? Do you have any business skills? Who would be your target market?

If you just thought that it was neat trick and you could make money doing it and you know nothing about it then the chances are that you won’t. Usually Entrepreneur’s take a problem, product or service and find a way to make or perform it better and more efficient. If you saw this product at a craft show then that is a good indication that they are not making a substantial amount of money from it. If you have a lot of money and you feel strongly about their product, I suggest contacting them and find out if you could go into business with them.

How or with what can i clean ALL my earrings in is there some sort of soloution?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

I want to just put all my earrings in one solution to clean my earrings. BUt i’ve been reading and i see that there are many different answers to different types of earrings. Is there an all in one soloution or household products that i can use on them?

just use regular rubbing alcohol.

u probably already have some laying around ur home, and if not its only like $1.00 for a bottle. and it cleans them just as well as a pricier solution.

How do you make beads from shells?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Is it possible to make beads out of shells that I’ve found by a lakeshore? Any tips for making the holes and cutting the shells?

Thanks

Yes. I’ve made wind-chime hangers from shells I’ve found on the beach. It’s the same process.

1. Purchase the smallest CHINA drill bit you can locate. Yes it is actually referred to as a "china bit" when you go to buy it. You can also use it to drill plates and then use lamp post and finial to make tiered cookie platters from two fine china plates you could find at a garage sale or purchase to match your good china. You use washers and rubber gaskets between the washers and the china and a screw to put in the bottom. — Lots of uses for your drill bit, so it doesn’t go to waste.
2. Ask your local hardware store where you are purchasing the bit to give you a small piece of 2×4. This should be free from their waste box.
3. Place your shell on the 2×4 and holding firmly with jewelry (rounded tip) pliers, drill a hole where desired. At the base where it is thickest, the hinge area, is the best area to drill — not the thin area which is the outer rim. Be sure to wear safety glasses whenever you drill anything.
4. I use 8mm Fireline, but whatever you require for your jewelry will work — just make sure you are not using material bigger than the hole or it will shred and break either the hole or your line.
5. Try gluing a pearl in a shell for effect if it is going to dangle from your jewelry. The weight of the pearl makes the shell hang nicely
Good luck
