How do I make charms for necklaces/bracelets etc.?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

like what material would I use to make it with, were can I get said material.

when i say charms on necklaces/bracelets i mean like little ornament things that go on necklaces and bracelets.
y’know?

If you’re interested in "charms" made from polymer clay (and most homemade charms you see are probably made from polymer clay, though they could literally be made from anything at all), check out at least these pages at my polymer clay "encyclopedia" site for lessons, examples, tips, etc:

http://glassattic.com/polymer/pendants_cording.htm (there click on the category for how to attach and "dangle" the charms you make from necklaces/bracelets/etc that’s called Loops & Holes for Cording… the most common way uses eye pins and jump rings, so click on "Top Loops" for those)

What earrings would match a green pearl necklace?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

My wedding colors are pink and green. My bridesmaids dresses are pink so I bought them all matching pretty green pearl necklaces for their gifts. But what kind of earings should they wear? Buying them all the same isnt in my budget, and I dont think I should ask them to look for green pearl earrings to match (sounds expensive and hard).

Any suggestions that would look nice?
Haha I know green pearl earrings would match! But im asking for any other alternatives that would look good too!

Have them not wear earrings or go with something neutral like gold or silver balls. Studs only though because it would look funny with non pearl dangling earrings. No earrings would look best, but nobody will notice because they’ll all have their eyes on the bride anyway. Plus nobody would really be able to tell even if they were a serious snob unless they got close to the bridesmaids. Congrats on the wedding! :)

what are these really small beads called? i love how they look.?

I saw this girls video on youtube of her making necklaces and so want to be able to make my own! they look so good, can someone please watch this youtube video and tell me what kind of beads they are?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6k_gdh8maE

Those are simply "seed beads," seed beads in this case made from glass (not plastic, or other materials).

Seed beads come in various sizes and even some shapes (faceted, tube, cylinders, etc), in many colors and even metallic or iridescent colors, etc, and are strung onto various types of plastic or other cording.
Here she’s just stringing the beads singly onto a cord without using a needle, with one or two focal beads inbetween, but seed beads can be used in all kinds of ways, even for "bead weaving."

Here are some suppliers of the many type of seed beads:

How do a make a bead bracelet with knots in between the beads?

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

I would like to know how to make knotted bead bracelets especially how to attach a clasp. I’m using cotton cord to thread the beads on. Is there a particular type of knot that goes in between thee beads and how do I attach a clasp at the end?
Please help?

I’m not sure if you are talking about macrame or knotting as in pearl stringing. Pearl stringing uses a plain overhand knot. If you are using other beads, with larger holes, you may have to use bead caps or spacer beads to prevent knots slipping through the holes. There are many ways to attach a clasp, all dependent on the type of clasp, how you end the necklace / bracelet and your own preferences. May I suggest an on-line search for pearl stringing or pearl knotting.
