My beaded purse is dirty, how do I clean the beads?

I have a beaded purse and the beads are dirty on the edges and bottom of the purse. How do I clean the beads? I don't know if it's just dirty from dust or if it's something else. I had it hanging in the closet for years.
Thanks everyone.

Try using a soft headed toothbrush first dry then if that dosen't work try a tiny bit of water on it.Then hang to dry, remember do it gently as you don't want to rub off the beads or loosen any.

Providing the threads holding the beads are not rotten you can wash the purse in warm soapy water and if necessary use a very soft brush to clean the beads. Rinse well and dry flat so no tension on the threads.

Use a clean makeup brush to sweep away loose dirt. Then use a soft rag moisten with rubbing alcohol to gently wipe the remaining dirt away.. Do not use water–it will loosen the thread
